Setting basic vray interior

Basic settings for interior scenes in vray for sketchup

The purpose of this tutorial is to help adjust the settings an interior scene using V-Ray Physical Camera Rectangular Light and the V-Ray for Sketchup
Render the basic settings
Global Switches> Gamma 2.2 (Value / other fixed values)

Camera> Camera Physical enabled> Still Camera> Shutter speed 125> Film Width 36> Zoom 1> F-number 10> Film Speed (ISO) 800> Exposure enabled> Vignetting enabled

Environment / Sky> GI enabled 1.4> Texture Editor (double click on the "m") Common> Type Sky> 1.5 Multiplier (Score / other fixed values)

Image Sampler> Adaptive QMC> Min 1 Max 16> Antialiasing enabled> Area 1.5

Color Mapping> HSV Exponential> 1 Dark Bright 1

Indirect Illumination> GI enabled> Primary Secondary search engines Light Irradiance Map Cache

Irradiance Map> -3 Min Max 0> HSph subdivs 50> Samples 20 (Value / other fixed values)
For a quick test rendering, you can reduce HSph subdivs to 30 and Max Rate to -2

Light Cache> subdivs 750> Sample Size 0:01> Scale Screen> Num Phases 2 (equivalent to the value of the processor)
For a quick test render, subtract the value subdivs to 500 and increase of of the Sample Size Be 0:02

Setting the Scene
Figure 1 shows an interior scene. The goal is to render the interior scene using VRay Rectangular Light and VRay Physical Camera. The important thing to note is VRay settings using location and time based Sketchup Shadow Settings.
Figure 1: Interior Scene in Sketchup
In this interior scene, a Rectangular VRay Light placed directly outside the window (as in Figure 2). Rectangular Color of Light is a light blue to match the color of the sky. While the value of the multiplier 30, Invisible enabled, No. Decay enabled, Normal Light Ignore enabled.
Figure 2: VRay Rectangular Light
Note: If you enable the "Show Calculation Phase" on the Rollout and Light Irradiance Cache Rollout, then you will be Able to see the process of calculation and distribution of light (as in Figure 3 & 4)

Figure 5: The final results using Vray for Sketchup Render
Setting the Vray for Sketchup can be saved (save) and used again for the scene for another. Open the Render Options toolbar, select File> Save, Load or Restore Default. In general, there are three quality settings render in VRay for Sketchup, low, medium and high quality.
The method above is just one of the many other ways. Often the more you try to practice then you will get a well-trained and NAMAs settings to what you want.
